Feeding Services

Feeding

Eating is one of the most complex things our bodies can do! Effective eating requires all our body systems and senses to work together at the same time. While eating comes naturally to most people, it can be a very challenging task for many children for a variety of reasons.

A child’s feeding skills may be impacted upon by:

  • Decreased oro-motor skills (movements of the mouth and tongue).
  • Sensory aversions ( smell, feel or the way a food looks).
  • Past negative or unpleasant experiences with eating (choking, gagging, pain).
  • Other medical reasons ( reflux, constipation, etc).

At FUNction, our therapists will use a multi-disciplinary approach and will work with you and your child to help determine the reason/s behind your child’s feeding difficulties and develop a tailored treatment plan.
